gather your flowers
Creating something beautiful starts with the right materials. You have your press (check!). Now you just need the right kind of flowers. For beginners, start by choosing flat, single-layered flowers like pansies, daisies, or violets. You'll want to pick these early in the morning to avoid any dew on the petals. (Drier the better!).
prep your press
First, you'll start with the bottom press board. On top of that, you'll lay one drying plate. Next, you'll add one sheet of lining paper. Use your tweezers to arrange some flowers on top of the lining paper. Cover your flowers with a sponge. Repeat this process three times, then finish with the top press board.
prep your flowers
Use the scissors provided to slice rose, lily, or larger petals into smaller petals. Now that you've gathered your flowers, pick the best of the best. Keep the ones without any tears, spots, or cracks. (They'll press better).
set your flowers
Wrap the straps around the press and tighten the d-rings. Place your press in the storage back and zip it up. Now we wait. (I know, not my favorite part either, but the wait will be worth it. I promise!) After three days your flowers will be ready!
