Thank you for your purchase and for supporting my small business!
I want to personally welcome you to the world of flower pressing, where I will be your gracious host to help you create beautiful pressed flowers.
In this E-guide, we will go over exactly how to use your flower press kit, provide you with The Flower Pressing Handbook, and offer inspiration for what to do with your pressed flowers. You'll get all the inside scoop on my blog for even more flower-pressing tips and tricks and information on how to join our flower-pressing community on Instagram, where I share some of my favorite DIYs, customer projects, and so much more.
Let's get to know your flower press kit
If this is your first time purchasing a flower press, you might open the box and ask yourself, "What is all of this stuff? How am I supposed to know what is what? Nothing is labeled?".
Well, you've come to the right place. Let's walk through your kit supplies, so you know exactly how to follow the instructions. I even included a handy-dandy video at the bottom, just in case. :)
the press kit
If you purchase a flower press kit in 2024, you will receive the updated Ditsy Flowers Flower Press version.
I listened to feedback and made some adjustments to help make flower pressing easier and better for my customers.
I hope you love the changes too.
I have spent so much time curating everything I could think of that would help you love the art of flower pressing.
In this handbook, you'll find instructional videos and guides that will empower and inspire you to achieve beautiful and artistic results in your flower pressing process.
I would love your feedback on our handbook!
top press board
Made from premium pine wood, the top press board is engraved with a ditsy wildflower design on one side.
bottom press board
Made from premium pine wood, the bottom press board is solid on both sides.
scissors
Made from hard carbon steel, you'll use these to trim petals and cut stems to your desired sizes .
tweezers
Made from black stainless steel, these upgraded tweezers will give you the best precision in moving your blooms with the utmost care.
blotting paper
Six blotting papers come vacuumed and sealed in a bag. They help absorb moisture from petals or greenery, so you'll want to keep them in a sealed bag when unused.
muslin bag
Upgraded this year to help you transport your flower press easily, this muslin bag will be the perfect companion for your flower pressing journeys wherever you go.
lining papers
You will place your flowers onto these lining papers to help prevent your flowers from sticking to the drying plate and cracking.
sponges
You will cover your flowers with one of these. These help evenly disperse pressure from the straps to absorb moisture from your flowers.
double ring straps
Wrap these around your press vertically and pull the straps tightly through the d rings to secure your press.
storage bag
You will have one large zip lock bag in your kit. Once you have strapped your kit, you will place it in this bag for an average of three days. For thicker flowers or greenery, leave it in longer.
the box
Your press came in one of our signature Ditsy Flower boxes. I purposely didn't include any product descriptions on our boxes, so gifting one of our presses is easy peasy.
the visual guide
You can press up to six layers with this flower press. In this diagram, this is an example of what three layers would look like. Simply put, this is how you'll layer your flower press, from bottom to top.
LAYER 1 -
+Bottom press board (one without engraving).
+One piece of blotting paper (it's hard and comes in a vacuum-sealed bag).+One sheet of lining paper (they come in a plastic bag, and it's very thin and opaque).
+Your fresh flowers
+One sponge (these are squishy and almost foam-like).
-If you are doing one layer, you'll add the top press board (the one with engraving).
If you add another layer, add the following on top of LAYER 1.
LAYER 2 -
+Another piece of blotting paper
+Another sheet of lining paper
+More fresh flowers
+Another sponge
-Again, you will add the top press board if you only do two layers.
-You will repeat adding layers until you have reached your desired amount.
-Did I lose you? :) No worries. Head to your Flower Pressing Handbook where I will walk you through it in a video.
